Because the WaterCrest-10 is so unique in it's process, people just like you frequently ask the following questions. If you have any other questions that do not appear on this page, please do not hesitate to send us your question or comments using our contact form. We very much appreciate your interest and consideration!
Does the WaterCrest-10 add anything to the water?
No. The WaterCrest-10 uses no chemicals and no additives to treat your water.
What will my water taste like?
Every home's water will taste slightly different after a WaterCrest-10 is installed. The reason for this is due to many factors, like the age of the plumbing in the home, the chemistry of the raw water that is coming into the home, the temperature of the raw water that is coming into the home, and the taste that you remember before your new WaterCrest-10 was installed. Sometimes the difference is slight, and sometimes it is dramatic, in a good way, of course.
This depends on what you were used to before your new WaterCrest-10 was installed. For example, if you had a water softener, you were probably used to water that felt slippery or slimy. This is typical of how a water softener makes your water feel. This is because a water softener is removing the healthy minerals from your home's water. Your WaterCrest-10 gives you that squeaky-clean feeling as intended in nature because we leave all of the healthy minerals in your home's water so that your body benefits from them on a daily basis.
Will my WarerCrest-10 enhance soap performance?
This is an easy one. Yes, your new WaterCrest-10 will enhance soap performance. But not in the same way a water softener will. Because we are removing all particulate matter down to .2 microns, and because we are removing the chlorine, and because we are neutralizing the hardness elements in your home's water, it would stand that you would get enhanced performance out of your soaps because there is less to inhibit their natural ability to lather.
How do I know when I need to change out my cartridges?
This is the most frequently asked question. The WaterCrest-10's three cartridges are designed to last between 40,000 and 218,000 gallons depending on the composition of your homes water. How long is that? Well, for example, the average American uses approximately 75 gallons of water per day in their home. If you have a family of four, that means you are using approximately 300 gallons of water per day, or approximately 109,000 gallons of water every year, or approximately 218,000 gallons every two years. So if you have a family of four, all three of your WaterCrest-10 cartridges could last approximately two years. If your water is over 20 grains per gallon hard however, this could shorten their life expectancy. But the general rule is this; If you start to see some spotting on your fixtures and glassware, or you start smelling some chlorine, or you start to notice that your water is running a bit slower, say for example while you are taking a shower, then it's time to call us. It's as simple as that. By using your senses, you'll be the best judge as to when your cartridges need to be changed. Just give us a call, and we'll ship them directly to your home in a matter of days. Then call your authorized Hanish Water dealer to come to your home and change out the expired cartridges. Or, you can change them out yourself, as it is a very simple process. The choice is yours. Then, either you, or the dealer can send the expired cartridges back to us and we will see that they are properly recycled. Nothing could be easier!
What does the warranty really cover?
The WaterCrest-10 warranty is very simple and straightforward. All parts are warranted for a period of 25 years. This does not include the BioGuard, or ScaleInhibitor medias as these can be negatively effected by the presence of iron, or hydrogen sulfide, both of which need to be taken down to a level of at least .3 parts per million before the water enters your WaterCrest-10. Your authorized Hanish Water dealer can test your water for you prior to installation.
How do I know that my WaterCrest-10 is working?
The answer to this question goes back to our natural ability to sense all that is around us. As mentioned above; "The general rule is this; If you start to see some spotting on your fixtures and glassware, or you start smelling some chlorine, or you start to notice that your water is running a bit slower, say for example while you are taking a shower, then it's time to call us." By paying attention to these three things, you'll know if your WaterCrest-10 is working, or not. If it is installed correctly, there is almost zero chance that it won't! We guarantee it.
